Missions

During Pastor Chris Sims’ tenure at Old Center, the Lord has led him to lead our Church in supporting missions.  Our missions’ program began by supporting full time Evangelist Michael Dollar.  We began this support in 2005.  In the early Spring of 2009, Bro. Dollar accepted the call to pastor the Antioch Baptist Church in Albertville, AL.  Old Center continued to support Bro. Dollar as he transitioned from full time evangelism to pastoring Antioch on a full time basis.  Our missions’ program continues to grow.   An offering is received quarterly (2nd Sunday A.M. Service of March, June, September, December) and divided among the various missions supported by Old Center.  See below for a current listing of missions supported by Old Center.

•Rising Above Ministries.  A group of concerned citizens in Grant, AL, (neighboring community of Old Center) have opened a community center and food mission designed to meet the needs of the less fortunate in their community.  Old Center voted on September 12, 2010, to dedicate missions funds to this worthy cause that is positively affecting our community by obeying many Scriptures instructing us to give to those in need.  Please see the below article from the September 2010 issue of The Communicator, a publication of the New Hope Telephone Cooperative, in which the ministry is featured.  The young man in the picture, Kyle Martin, attends Old Center Baptist Church.  We are proud of him and others in our congregation that volunteer their time to this ministry.
